This page has information regarding the women's organizations within St. John Lutheran Church.  


Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA)

Purpose: 

Structure:
The organization exists for Bible study and service as well as social interaction.
It is governed by an advisory board and has 5 Bible Study circles.
    Mary-Martha Circle  meeting the second Wednesday o feach month at 1:30 p.m.
    Miriam Circle meeting the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
    Mission Circle meeting the second Wednesday of each month at  12:00 noon for regular meetings and 11:30 a.m. for potluck meetings.
    Naomi-Ruth Circle meeting the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
    Priscilla Circle meeting the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m.

Also, functioning within the organization are some traditional church service organizations.
    The Altar Guild - caring for alltar cloths, paraments, communion ware, candles, and altar flowers.
    The quilters - creating beautiful quilts as a service to the community Meeting every Thursday morning in the quilter's room.
    Baby-Tie comfortors.(BTQ's)  Quilts go to new infants of the Congregation and to the maternity ward of St. Joe Hospital.
   
Along with the aforementioned activities, the WELCA groups aid the church by helping with:
    Weddings and the set up.
    Funeral Dinners at the church after the committal service.


Special Project:

Along with the various mission opportunities supported by the WELCA Circles every month, WELCA is supporting an ongoing project for the entire year.  This is a project to supply
50 kits to LWR Lutheran World Relief.  Each kit contains the four parts listed below.  They will be collecting the items in containers in the Narthex.  

January and February collection:   Items for Layettes
March and April collection:  Items for Health Kits
May and June collection:  Sewing kit - - Wrapped soap and fabric (3 yards)
July and August collection:  Items for school kits.
