The St. John Academy is ongoing classes for personal improvement, entertainment and life skills open to the community and church members. Anyone can propose a class by submitting a request to email@example.com. Classes include financial planning, computer training, crafts, support groups and hobbies.

Financial Peace University
Financial Peace University(FPU) consists of a 13-week video curriculum—taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey—that incorporates small-group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. Financial Peace University is highly entertaining for everyone, with a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages. More than one million families have attended Financial Peace University with amazing results. Classes meet at St. Johns for two hours each week for 13 weeks, The half of class is spent watching Dave Ramsey present the material in his own straight-forward humorous style. The second hour each week consists of discussing the issues and applying them to our own daily lives. During the 13 weeks we’ll have guest-speakers who have been through the program and can tell you their personal stories. ADHD Parenting Class Scheduled
There is an ADHD Parent2Parent Class scheduled for this September at St. John Lutheran Church. Parent2Parent is an outstanding program sponsored by CHADD, Children and Adults with ADHD. The course is targeted to parents of children with ADHD, up to the age of 18. The class runs 7 weeks, for a total of 14 hours. Among topics covered are Treatment Modalities, Behavioral Strategies, School Accommodations, Family interactions, and so much more. Cheryl Gigler will teach the course as a parent volunteer and certified CHADD Educator. The class fee is $149.99, which includes membership in CHADD as well as an outstanding parent workbook. Remaining class funds will go towards purchasing books on ADHD for area school libraries.

Self Defense -A self-defense training class where individuals learn personal safety and awareness tips along with participating in hands-on training to learn simple and effective strikes, kicks, punches, and maneuvers to defend and protect themselves against an attack.. Participants will receive verbal information and instructions with visual demonstrations followed by hands-on practice. age 14+) and require athletic wear, gym shoes, and water. Instructors: Detective Sgt. Cleveland Inge and Lynnea Numbers. Cleveland has taught defensive tactics training at the police academy and to various community groups and organizations for over 10 years and is currently a law enforcement officer. Lynnea Numbers is a certified self-defense trainer and has 5 years of experience teaching self-defense courses.
